Horsetimes: What age did you start the horse riding?
Gerco Schroder: 7 years old
H: Which tour was the most difficult in your life? Why?
GS: It’s difficult to reach the top but to stay there is maybe even more difficult.
H: Have you ever had such grate partner as Glock’s London?
GS: I was and I am lucky that I already had many really good horses but for sure Glock’s London is really special for me
H: How did you reach mutual understanding with Glock’s London, how He appeared in Your life?
GS: We saw and bought him as a 5 year old on a show and after that we took all the time to get at the top
H: On numerous photos of your competitions we have noticed that London's bridle has mo metal. Do you always use such influence with London, why?
GS: In the important classes I always ride him on hackamore because I have the feeling that he likes that the most
H: Tell us please the funniest story that is associated with horses in which you have participated or were its eye-witness.
GS: We have 4 old horses in the field at home, two of them did also the Olympics in 2004 and 2008 (Montreal and Monaco) and that are the only horses on who Glock’s London is really reacting when he sees them, I still don’t know why he’s always getting a bit wild when he sees them but I always have to laugh when he’s doing that.
H: The whole world now aligns with Netherlands and UK -the world's equestrian leaders. And what do you think about Russian show jumping and our athletes?
GS: I think that they are also working hard to get on a higher level also by training a lot in for example The Netherlands/Germany etc. At this moment we also have at home in our BWG Stables a Russian rider who is training whit us.
H: How long are you planning to be in the sport? What further plans do you have?
GS: At this moment I still really like to compete on the highest level and I think as long as I have really good horses I will keep on doing it, in the later future I also hope that I maybe can go whit my kids to international show if they want to ride as well.
H: You are already Olympic medalist and World champion, what type of tours do you want to win also?
GS: All championships have something extra but for sure I also hope that we can compete really good in Rio 2016, but next to the championships there a many big Grand Prix I would love to win.
H: What do you do in free/leasure time?
GS: If I’m not at a show I’m training the horses at home, spend some time whit trying out new horses and the rest of my time what is not really much I spend with my wife and 2 kids so really time to do something else is not there.
H: Thank You for your attention and time!
Horsetimes is grateful to Remco Koteris and Tatiana Mitina for participation in the interview preparating!
